Seawall
The seawall at Columbia Island was a massive concrete casting with an average cross sectional thickness of five feet and height of 14 feet. The seawall was set on granite ledge that was just awash at high tide. The seawall formed a ring which was filled with dredged sea bottom. This fill and seawall combination formed Columbia Island. First built in 1941 it didn’t get any repairs until 2011. It continues to accomplish it’s purpose today.
